The Problems With Your Pool Equipment
Many problems can arise with almost every part of your pool. Depending on the type of pool you have, however, some pool equipment may be easier to maintain or fix than others. Most in-ground pools, however, have the following equipment you need to stay on top of:
- Filters
- Pumps
- Plaster
- Tile and coping
- Heater
- And more
Traditional chlorine pools also have chlorine tablets, granules, or liquid chlorine that are used to sanitize the pool. Chlorine can help kill bacteria in the pool and ward off mosquitos from congregating around dirty, stagnant water.
Saltwater pools are a little different than chlorine ones, often having a salt chlorine generator or a salt cell. They may also have sensors to measure salt concentration and pH levels.
Both types of pools, however, have pumps, filters, and heaters. Pumps circulate water and generally last eight to 15 years. Filters help keep the pool water clean. Depending on whether you have a sand filter or a diatomaceous earth one, you can expect your filter to last you anywhere from three years to five, seven, or even ten. Gas or electric heaters help warm the pool, and they, too, will need to be replaced eventually.
